Rest

Every morning when I wake up, I do not say… “I can do this.”
Every morning when I wake up, I do not say… “I will be strong.”
Every morning when I wake up, I do not say… “I will make it through this.”
Every morning when I wake up, I say… “Lord, be with me and give me your strength.”
Every morning when I wake up, I say… “Lord, I will rest in you today.”
I am weak, but He is strong.
I will believe in you and let you do the rest.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5
4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
Acts 2:25-26
25 David said about him:
“‘I saw the Lord always before me.
Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest in hope…
Psalm 62:1
1 Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my salvation comes from him.
Psalm 91
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 ”Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
I love you deeply. Thank you for sending Christ as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for my salvation. Thank you for lifting me up yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The first set of scripture, 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, really resonated with me. I’m someone who tends to analyze and overthink everything, and I don’t know if it comes from a lifetime of uncertainty or just curiosity. But, I felt a sense of calm and peace reading this. “I don’t always have to know the answer” was the first thought that came to my mind. I just have to trust and believe that He is taking care of us and will reveal His wisdom to us in His way only.
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Amen…I recognize this one of course, but there is still so much of the Bible that I want to learn. You know, I grew up a Muslim and found God at a small church here in Fort Worth, so I am not as familiar with the Bible and the word as others, but I try to read it and gain wisdom whenever I can.
